JET AIRWAYS ANNOUNCES CODESHARE WITH AMERICAN AIRLINES

November 19, 2007 : Jet Airways is pleased to announce its codeshare partnership with American Airlines offering its valued customers seamless travel between India and the USA.

Subject to regulatory approvals, effective 16 January 2008, Jet Airways will place its 9W designator code on certain American Airlines domestic flights out of New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK). Jet Airways operates daily flights between India and New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) via its Brussels hub.

In turn, American Airlines will place its AA designator code on Jet Airways flights to certain cities in India beyond the Jet Airways Delhi hub.  American Airlines flies nonstop daily between its Chicago hub and Delhi. 

In addition, American and Jet Airways will codeshare and cooperate on traffic between the United States and India that connects at Brussels Airport as well as hope to expand their codeshare cooperation on other routes in the months ahead.

Both American and Jet Airways operate out of American’s new $1.3 billion state-of-the-art terminal at JFK.

India’s tourism, business and educational ties with America are fast expanding, and through this partnership both partners, Jet Airways and American Airlines, will be able to leverage their strengths and position to tap the growing passenger traffic between the two countries.

Jet Airways currently operates a fleet of 69 aircraft, which includes 7 Boeing 777-300ERs aircraft, 51 classic and next generation Boeing 737-400/700/800/900 aircraft, 4 Airbus A330-200 aircraft, and 7 modern ATR 72-500 turboprop aircraft. With an average fleet age of 4.82 years, the airline has one of the youngest aircraft fleet in the world. Jet Airways operates over 350 flights daily.

Flights to 54 destinations span the length and breadth of India and beyond, including New York (JFK & Newark), Toronto, Brussels, London Heathrow, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur,Colombo, Bangkok and Kathmandu. The airline plans to extend its international operations to other cities in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia in phases with the introduction of wide-body aircraft into its fleet. Since its inception in May 1993 to end-October 2007, Jet Airways has flown over 81.8 million passengers.
