Jet Airways And American Airlines Launch Codeshare Jetprivilege Members To Enjoy Enhanced Mileage Accrual Opportunities

February 06, 2008: Jet Airways, India’s premier airline and American Airlines have launched their codeshare partnership, effective February 06, 2008.  With this partnership, Jet Airways’ JetPrivilege members have the added benefit of earning JPMiles as they travel on these codeshare flights which would help enhance their JetPrivilege tier status.

This is Jet Airways’ third codeshare partnership, after its partnerships with Brussels Airlines and Qantas.

Commenting on this Mr. Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, Chief Executive Officer, Jet Airways said, “With this partnership, Jet Airways and American Airlines will offer their passengers enhanced connectivity and  seamless travel from key Indian cities to Baltimore, Boston, Cleveland, Dallas (Fort Worth), Raleigh-Durham and Washington (Reagan) in the United States, and vice versa. We are delighted to partner with a carrier of the stature of American Airlines to help Jet Airways improve its connectivity and reach in the North American market.”

To complement its daily flights to New York (Newark and JFK) from Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai, Jet Airways will market and apply its code (9W) on American Airlines/American Eagle operated flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) and Baltimore, Boston, Cleveland, Dallas (Fort Worth), Raleigh-Durham and Washington (Reagan).

Similarly, American Airlines will now market and apply its code (AA) on Jet Airways operated flights between New Delhi and Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.

Significantly, this codeshare partnership allows JetPrivilege members traveling on Jet Airways/American Airlines codeshare flights to accrue JPMiles, on the basis of which members may either maintain or upgrade their tier status in the JetPrivilege Programme.  Members may also enjoy access to lounges at international airports, additional baggage allowance on Jet Airways flights, JetPrivilege upgrade vouchers usage and use of Business Class check-in counters.*

Both American and Jet Airways operate out of American’s new $1.3 billion state-of-the-art terminal at JFK.

India’s tourism, business and educational ties with America are fast expanding, and through this partnership both partners, Jet Airways and American Airlines, will be able to leverage their strengths and position to tap the growing passenger traffic between the two countries.

Jet Airways And American Airlines Announce Frequent Flyer Partnership Programme

February 15, 2008: Jet Airways, India’s premier airline, and American Airlines are proud to announce a frequent flyer partnership programme, effective today.

With this reciprocal accrual and redemption partnership, Jet Airways’ JetPrivilege, India’s largest frequent flyer programme, will now have 12 international airline partners on which its members can earn and redeem their JPMiles.

Commenting on the same, Mr. Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, Chief Executive Officer, Jet Airways said,“ USA is a key market in the Jet Airways international network and we are excited to partner with American Airlines, one of the leading carriers in North America. With the announcement of the Jet Airways-American Airlines frequent flyer partnership programmes, JetPrivilege members flying on eligible American Airlines flights anywhere on the latter’s network will now be able to earn and redeem their JPMiles. Similarly members of American Airlines frequent flyer programme, AAdvantage, will be able to earn and redeem miles on eligible flights on the entire Jet Airways network.*

Apart from the Frequent Flyer Programme partnership, JetPrivilege members can also accrue JPMiles when flying on codeshare flights marketed by Jet Airways and operated by American Airlines between New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) and Baltimore, Boston, Cleveland, Dallas (Fort Worth), Raleigh-Durham and Washington (Reagan).

Subject to regulatory approvals, effective 16 January 2008, Jet Airways will place its 9W designator code on certain American Airlines domestic flights out of New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK). Jet Airways operates daily flights between India and New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) via its Brussels hub.

In turn, American Airlines will place its AA designator code on Jet Airways flights to certain cities in India beyond the Jet Airways Delhi hub.  American Airlines flies nonstop daily between its Chicago hub and Delhi. 

In addition, American and Jet Airways will codeshare and cooperate on traffic between the United States and India that connects at Brussels Airport as well as hope to expand their codeshare cooperation on other routes in the months ahead.
